Day One – It’s a kind of magic...

My first real day of being a tourist in USA is officially over and Magic Mountain has been climbed and conquered!  Been there, done, that and didn’t even bother with the T-Shirt.

For those of you who came in late, Six Flags Magic Mountain is the home of the of the worlds wildest and scariest rollercoasters. It was featured on National Lampoon’s “Vacation” where it was called ‘Wally World’. I didn’t punch the moose!

I got there bright an early at 10 am after a quick walk from my hotel. Staying near the park was a good move as the park was still quiet before the tourist buses arrived. I got straight in, picked up my Gold Flash Pass which allowed me to jump the lines and go directly to the loading areas of all the rides and was on my way.

The first coaster I went on was Tatsu. A wild ride that saw you facing forward, belly down as if you were flying – it was very fast and very good. I now know how a bird feels as it zips around.  From there on in it just got bigger and better with each ride.

After a few hours of madness, I was starting to feel a little low on energy and figured out I hadn't eaten in 24 hours, since my breakfast on the plane. I figured a goold old American Cheeseburger, fries and Coke would hit the spot and visited Katy's Kettle - one of the many eateries in magic Mountain - MISTAKE! I never thought it possible for an American to stuff up a burger meal, but I thought wrong. Stale bun, dry patty and fries that needed viagar. The Coke tasted like cordial. I made it half way through before giving up, but at least it gave me some energy to see out the rest of the day.

I pushed on, riding coasters until about 8 o'clock when I finally gave up for the day and walked home via Denny's. A meal of t-bone and corn made me feel at home and then I promptly crashed.

While it was great day, this is a family park. I really missed Toni, Marcus and Ella today. I really wished they'd been here to share this one with me as Marcus would have had a blast and there were plenty of kiddie rides Ella would have loved. I'd even have twisted Toni's arm and got her on X2 - an amazing rollercoaster - she'd never have forgiven me for the scare, but that's just one more thing she'd have to never forgive me for - haha. I miss you guys and promise to bring you back here in a couple of years!
