Well, the reality of what I’m about to do has finally set in: Two weeks in the states in three big cities and six big concerts. Plus the work I am doing over there. This must be some kind of midlife crisis – but I’m looking at it as a reward for a handful of years of hard slog getting my own business off the ground and surviving. I’m getting to the end of the work projects I had booked for clients and have even found time to mess around on this site and add some videos from the bands I will be seeing.
I’ve also added Lenny Kravitz at the Fillmore on Irving on the 14th of October to my list of shows – bringing it to six concerts. By the looks of the video I’ve seen of Lenny’s 2009 shows – they look awesome and seeing him at this legendary venue will be great. Ben Harper on the Relentless Seven are supporting Pearl Jam for both gigs so this looks like being a huge double header in Los Angeles.
I have to steal phrase from Steven Colbert and give Live Nation ticketing a “wag of the finger” for not allowing credit card sales from outside the USA, but then it gives me great pleasure to give Kris from Live Nation Customer Support a huge ” tip of the hat” for replying to my email and arranging for the venue to have a ticket for me – he has sent me five emails so far and done a heap of chasing up to secure me a ticket – well beyond the call of duty!!!
Pearl Jam’s new album, Backspacer, is released this week and from what I have heard of it so far – it sounds really good – lots of rock’n’roll with their unique blend of grunty guitars, thundering drums and bass and Eddie’s shredding vocals. The band just keep getting better and each album is a masterpiece. I’m glad this is my favourite band. Shame all those guys in the 90s who preferred Nirvana. Listening to the evolution of their songs and the amazing energy of their Live shows proves to me this band is as significant as The Beatles, The Stones and any other seminal band you care to mention.
Keep On Rockin’ In The Free World!
